The Regional Programme for border security in Central America (SEFRO) Program aims to strengthen security in the region through a improved border management by 4 results, including:
1. Among the Member States of SICA there is better cohesion and coordination of policies, regulations and procedures concerning border security sector and integration of the concept of Integrated Border Management (IBM).
2. National and regional institutions involved in border security are strengthened, have a stronger capacity of inter-institutional coordination and contribute to national and regional areas of coordination and follow-up.
3. The accessibility of the different national border services (immigration officers, customs and police) to Interpol information systems is extended.
4. Infrastructure and the connection between the police, immigration and customs in borders are improved.
This contract is focused on outcomes 1 and 2, aimed in enhancing national and regional institutions involved in border security providing them a stronger capacity of inter-institutional coordination and contribute to national and regional areas for coordination and monitoring, incorporating the concept of integrated border management.
