The main results expected are:
1) Strengthening of the Institute of Public Defence and improvement of efficiency and effectiveness of provided services
2) Strengthening of legal officers capacities (including the National Civil Police and the prison system) application of constitutional and international guarantees, it also involves capacity building as for specialized training (training of trainers, legal interpreters, cultural mediators, etc.)
3) Improvement of Due process and detention conditions in order to promote respect for human rights, reduce overcrowding in prisons for preventive detention, improving also the conditions of prisoners.
4) A more informed civil society that understands and respects the rights of detainees, focusing on the rights of women, minorities and the situation of minors in the penal system
5) Strengthening of the Coordinating Body for the Justice Sector Modernization
The assessment consists of 3 phases: i) stage of cabinet (review of relevant project documents, and of those that are part of its strategic framework), ii) phase field (at the office of the Supreme Court of Justice in Panama, where the interviews are conducted with relevant stakeholders), iii) synthesis stage (general review and preparation of the final evaluation report, including recommendations to follow-up, readjust and/or redirect project activities).
