Re-thinking the Sudan National Museum exposition in view of modern achievements of museology
The Sudanese National Museum (SNM) was opened in 1971, resulting from the famous Nubian Campaign of UNESCO, and stay since that time unchanged.
The main building of the SNM consists of two large halls. The first, on the ground floor, presents Sudanese antiquities dated from Palaeolithic times to IV century A.C. The second hall, on the first floor, presents the collection of the frescos of the Faras Cathedral of the IX century A.C.
The overall purpose of the project is to re-design the SNM’s exposition in view of modern achievements of museology: re-thinking concept, renewing showcases, putting new displays, re-making lighting, etc.

Project activities:
- To develop two variants of design of the new exposition to be installed in the SNM, which has to be compliant with modern trends in the world museology;
- To design the showcases in full description – ready to be ordered – together with three possible suppliers, who can produce the designed showcases;
- To propose the IT and video equipment with full specification – ready for the purchase – together with three possible suppliers, who can deliver the equipment;
- To implement the scheme of lighting for the new exposition – presented in accordance with the British Standards;
- To develop the electrical scheme for the new exposition – presented in accordance with the British Standards;
- To develop the IT cabling scheme for the new exposition – presented in accordance with the British Standards;
- To provide service on architectural supervision during installation of the new exposition.
