The Project comprised of 4 outcomes:
1. National anti-corruption strategy developed and implemented including anti-money laundering and asset recovery
2. National legal framework on anti-corruption, anti-money laundering and asset recovery
3. Institutional capacity to combat corruption and money laundering and to recover stolen assets enhanced
4. Public awareness on the negative effects of corruption and money laundering raised.
The main objective of the evaluation was to provide the relevant external co-operation services of the European Union, the partner government and the wider public with an overall independent assessment of the past performance of the intervention "Supporting Measures to Combat Corruption and Money Laundering, and to Foster Asset Recovery, in Egypt", paying particularly attention to the results of the project against its objectives, the quality and the results of interventions in the context of an evolving cooperation policy with an increasing emphasis on result-oriented approaches.
Key lessons and recommendations were also provided in order to improve future action. Therefore the evaluation focused both on operational and strategic aspects.
