The ORAS-CONHU is composed by Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Chile, Peru and Venezuela. In 2009-2012 Plan were defined seven strategic objectives that reflect the health priorities identified by the member countries to work in the integration context. These strategic goals are as follows:
To contribute to Andean and South America’s health integration;
To strengthen the Andean Network of Epidemiological Surveillance and Intervention, focusing on border areas in coordination with those of the South American region;
To promote and ensure universal access to medicines;
To convert social determinants in axis of public policies and health programs in the Andean sub-region;
To establish policies for the development and management of human health care resources;
To promote systems that guarantee universal access to health care;
To strengthen the system of management performance of ORAS-CONHU.
In order to advance in the achievement of these objectives, ORAS-CONHU in collaboration with technical teams from member countries, developed the project "Health Plan of Andean Integration."
The implementation of this plan will rely most of all on Andean health policies, by strengthening surveillance and response systems in the border prevention plans for the control of non-communicable diseases, reinforcing medications and human resources observatories.
