The Programme aims to contribute to the sustainable management of natural and environmental resources and the conservation of cultural heritage department through economically viable projects. The project involves the Master Plan Update of Cerro Cahui protected biotype and Master Plan Elaboration of San Miguel La Palotada protected biotype – Zotz in Peten, Guatemala. Each Master Plan will establish a long-term vision of the protected area, providing specific guidelines for conservation measures, management and retrieval of biological diversity, natural processes, cultural aspects of Biotope, considerations for climate change and basic guidelines for rural development of populations involved in this particular protected area. The project will stimulate the multidisciplinary and comprehensive research of natural resources, and it will also promote tourism, environmental education and the diffusion of natural values of the area. At the same time the project will develop the administrative guidelines and also the management and financing mechanisms to achieve the objectives set for the period 2011 – 2015.
