The main objective of the assignment is to assist the Department of Tourism in reducing the vulnerability of cultural heritage structures to multiple natural hazards, including earthquake, typhoon, flood, etc. The assignment constitutes an important step towards mainstreaming Disaster Risk Management in the conservation of cultural heritage structures and thus will also strengthen the capacity of the government to undertake planning and pro-active measures to mitigate the impacts of future natural disasters on these types of assets. Specifically, the assignment: 1. Based on existing risk assessments, hazard maps, and historical records, prioritizes and recommends specific structures for detailed vulnerability assessment; 2. Assesses the vulnerability of selected cultural heritage structures and 3. Recommends options to mitigate the impacts of earthquakes and other natural disasters on the assessed structures.
