Santa Croce in Gerusalemme Church, also called Cappuccinelle, lies on Monte Pancrazio, on the way to the dominant Castello di Federico II. Founded in the late XVI century, it was built on pre-existing historical ruins. Severely damaged by the earthquake in 1854, abandoned since 1866 for more than 50 years, the church was significantly modified in 1928 and then restored another time at the end of the second world war to make up heavy bombing damages. The assignment included three projects: Restoration project of the Church (timber and lath structures strengthening, main and lateral facades conservation, mould reclamation of the south wall, construction of a heated floor with excavations, 1° order decorations and systems restoration); Restoration project of works of art (frescoes, altarpiece, paintings on the entrance wall); Rehabilitation project of the out – chapel.
