The EU has supported the social security reform in China through the Europe-China Social Security Reform Cooperation Project (EUCSS), which started in 2006 and will run until the end of July 2011 with a budget of € 20 million. The overall objective of this project is to support the transition to a sustainable social security system in China which guarantees accessible, adequate and affordable social security benefits to all Chinese citizens. The global objective of this mission is to identify key issues of the social protection system in China for a possible cooperation with the EU and to analyse the modality of the cooperation.
