Croatia has a rich and diverse cultural heritage (cultural goods, movable, immovable and intangible), therefore many sites belong to UNESCO's World Heritage List. Jusuf Mašković’s Han (Caravanserai) is located in Vrana, a village in the Pakoštane hinterland, it is the most significant historical Islamic structure in the territory of the Republic of Croatia. The Han is a unique architectural monument in Croatia, valuable for its size, building technique and materials, architectural decoration and location in space. Vrana has suffered great damages during the Homeland War (1991-1995), when more than 50% of settlement was demolished, it is one of the poorest areas in Croatia. The objective of this contract is the preparation of Main design and tender documentation for reconstruction and revitalization of Maškovića Han, by re-establishing its original function and preserving its original materials. The Han will contain the following: lodgings, restaurant with kitchen, cafeteria with storeroom, shops, offices of the Han Agency, and Information Points of the Nature Park Vransko jezero and the Pakoštane Tourist Board. Some elements will be restored, such as: the tower, with its original arches, stairwells and fireplaces; the Turkish bath (hammam), preserving the original structure; the fountain, the original stone walls. On the contrary other elements will be completely new: the floor (wooden, brick or stone) and flat roof structures, windows and doors of top quality wooden materials. The Han will get its water supply and sewerage network (sanitary facilities, drainage, fecal water management and hydrant network) from the municipal waterworks and low voltage electricity supply from the municipal distribution network.
