The objective was the development of Baalbek as a cultural city to provide a new engine to its development, such as: • an enhanced cultural life, adding new events and initiatives to the Festival, and making the most of local and national artistic traditions; • the development of scientific activities related to the local heritage; • the diversification of the tourism “offer”, so as to attract an increased number of visitors, for multi-purpose and longer visits; • the development of activities related to the restoration, rehabilitation and maintenance of heritage buildings and sites, with an increasing demand of new skills and also the reviving of traditional building skills.
