The European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) was created by an initiative of the European Parliament in 1994 and aims to promote human rights, democracy and conflict prevention in third countries by providing financial support for activities supporting these goals. The general objective of this mid-term evaluation is to provide the European Commission and the partner NGOs with sufficient information to make an informed judgement about the performance of the programme and individual projects to date, and to make recommendations regarding future improvements to the programme and individual projects. The specific objective consists into assess the efficiency, effectiveness, sustainability and anticipated impact of the supported actions and the prospects for the sustainability of the benefits. Also to provide practical recommendations for the follow up actions and lessons learned.
