The European Commission and the Federal Government of Nigeria agreed in December 2004 to support the implementation of the Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Reform Programme (WSSSRP) and the Support to Reforming Institutions Programme (SRIP) in Nigeria. The objectives of WSSSRP and SRIP are to improve good governance and the quality of service delivery by the public service through more efficient and transparent management of public finances and to increase access to safe, adequate and sustainable water and sanitation services at federal level and in six focal states that were previously selected. The global objective of this assignment is to assess the relevance, efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of the programmes’ implementation, management at federal level and overall coordination in relationship to their objectives and assumptions and give recommendations for the improvement of their implementation for the remaining period of the programmes.
