By the end of 2002 an EC funded project was launched in order to support Turkey’s private and public sectors in the process of technical harmonisation. This project is known as “Support to the Quality Infrastructure in Turkey”. A sub-project under the programme, entitled “Support to Conformity Assessment Bodies’ Activities” aims at giving assistance to TÜRKLAB, Turkish Association of Testing and Calibration Laboratories. TÜRKLAB is supporting and representing Turkish conformity assessment bodies, especially testing, analysis and calibration laboratories, both nationally and internationally. The specific objectives of the mission are: • To contribute to the networking and cooperation of conformity assessment bodies and laboratories regarding accreditation and certification • To enhance the representational role of TÜRKLAB and help TÜRKLAB to become a player at national and international level for testing laboratories and conformity assessment in Turkey
