To ensure the effective implementation of the European Integration agenda, the Ministry for Europe for Foreign Affair (MEFA) has a crucial role in the EU integration process and negotiations, including coordination of various stakeholders, discussion and assurance of sustainable and harmonised approaches with a special focus in strengthening the cooperation with civil society.

The EU Delegation has implemented support to the CSO’s through several projects, some of which include a strong component of financial support to third parties, small and grassroots organisations. Under IPA II 2014-2020 the development of sustainable civil society organisations (CSO) and media freedom is supported through technical assistance (with focus on building the enabling environment and strengthening civil society capacities and engagement in policy dialogue and reform processes) and grants to CSOs.
