Women in Business (WiB) is a programme from European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) specifically focused on women-led SMEs. It operates in more than 18 countries from Kosovo to Kazakhstan and the EU is a donor. EU funding is supporting this EBRD initiative with numerous sources in different countries. The Programme budget is € 5,035,000.00, it started on December 2015, ending on December 2022. The final beneficiaries of the Programme are women-led SMEs in the Eastern Partnership and people working and benefiting from these SMEs.

The EBRD Women in Business Programme in Eastern Partnership countries (EaP) was launched by the European Union in 2015 to promote women entrepreneurship and more broadly women’s participation in business, supporting women-led enterprises with access to know-how, access to finance and non-financial development services.

According to the programme, the Action is expected to promote women entrepreneurship and more broadly women’s participation in business, supporting women-led enterprises with access to finance, aiming at an improved financial awareness in the sustainable growth of assisted women-led enterprises by Increased access to advice and know-how via tailored advisory and capacity building, together with access to finance.

The Action aims to assist Partner Financial Institutions (PFIs) in identifying and understanding Women SMEs patterns of use of financial services and products, demand-side constraints, as well as identifying how the existing organisational culture and individual behaviour of staff influences Women SMEs’ access to the products and services. The activities are focused on:

• Access to finance;
• Technical assistance to Participating Financial Institutions: Internal capacity building, Product development, Marketing and Outreach to female clients.
