Solomon Islands launched the National Development Strategy (NDS) 2016-2035 on April 2016. This NDS maps out a strategic direction for the future development of Solomon Islands. The overall vision and long-term objective of the NDS is to achieve an improvement in the social and economic livelihoods of all Solomon Islanders. Among others, the NDS specifically refers to Public Financial Management (PFM). Strengthening PFM is key for achieving better service delivery in the country.

The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) in Honiara is responsible for the external audits of the whole of the government sector. It is the objective of this assignment to provide highly skilled technical assistance to the AG under the Technical Co-operation Facility to support him in his role and responsibilities.
Therefore, the overall objective of this assignment is to strengthen the Public Finance Management system on the accountability side. The specific objective is to provide expert advice to the National Accounts Audit team and work hands-on with the team at the office of the Auditor General so that it can carry out its roles and responsibilities more efficiently and effectively.
