Technical-Vocational Education (TVE) consists of a network comprising 171 institutions, distributed among the public (68), semi-public (38) and private (65) sectors. Public institutions answer to the Secretariat of State for Technical-Vocational Education (SEETP), and other ministries, such as the National School of Statistics, under the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The Government of Mozambique has been implementing a Process of Vocational Education Reform (VER) since July 2006, with the aim of creating a vocational education oriented towards meeting labour market demand through training based on skills standards and modular, flexible courses provided by training institutions accredited for this purpose.
The PRETEP PLUS Program aims to intervene in the TVET sector to increase the quality of its graduates so that they can significantly and effectively contribute to the economic and social development of Mozambique and, in particular, the directly covered population, i.e., young people under initial training, disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals, school operators (teachers and managers) and employment services staff, with particular attention to promoting equal opportunities in the context of the intervention. The specific objective of this project is to increase employability and social inclusion for at least 27,000 users of schools and institutions in the Vocational Education sector by improving the capacity of the employment training system in order to meet the demand of local, national and regional markets.
