ExCross‐sectoral cooperation and innovation within Creative and Cultural Industries ‐ practices, opportunities and policies within the area of the Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture

Cross-sectoral cooperation and innovation within Creative and Cultural Industries – practices, opportunities and policies within the area of the Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture (NDPC).

This project funded by the European Union involved the eleven Northern Dimension countries (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russian Federation and Sweden).

The project was conceived in the second half of 2019 and launched in January 2020 with completion at the end of February 2021. The end of the inception phase coincided with the outbreak of COVID-19 and adjustments were made to the project accordingly. The obvious, necessary change was that planned physical events had to be reinvented as virtual activities. In retrospect the project team felt this was paradoxically positive. The virtual activities such as the series of Experts’ Focus Groups were extremely productive and time-efficient while the planned travel budgets were used for very useful additional activities not in the project’s original terms of reference.

The core of the project was a mapping study with other supplementary activities including case studies, policy briefs, articles, the Experts’ Focus groups and other outputs including two wrap-up events and this web resource. It is hoped this web resource will help prolong the active life of the project and be one of its legacies.

The objectives of the project included identifying cross-innovative cooperation cases as examples of model elements, creative tools or practices potentially replicable in the Northern Dimension region and contributing to the NDPC’s new 2021-2024 Strategy and increasing the NDPC’s visibility in the partner countries.
