PhD Madlina Puka
Representative of Albania Branch Office & Good Governance, Economist and Sustainable Tourism Development expert
Madlina Puka brings 15 + years of experience in Albania and the Western Balkans region in the fields of regional and local development and policy analysis, coupled with knowledge of International Development and Funding Organisations systems (European Union Funding Programs, World Bank, GIZ, UNDP, EBRD, etc). She is a gifted consultant, skilled communicator and manager, able to perform synthesis of primary and secondary information and community inputs into insightful, far-reaching strategies and implementation programs. Her work in the field of economic development also focuses on linkages with good governance, participatory monitoring, urban environmental policies, and sustainable development addressing in particular the tourism industry.
Over the last years, holding high-level governmental position in Albania succeded by a Senior Expert Position at intergovernmental organisation of Regional Cooperation Council - RCC in Bosnia and Herzegovina, she has worked to merge to concepts: economic integration and regional development. Engaged in the Government of Albania, she served as General Director of Regional Development Agency 4 - South established by Prime Minister Office as implementing instrument of regional territorial and administrative reform `2015 - 2018`, serving to 21 Albanian municipalities.
During her job at Regional Cooperation Council, in Bosnie-Hergovina, she was instrumental in drafting the regional policies, in particular sustainable tourism development and the list of interventions for Western Balkan 6 which has been anchored at Common Regional Market - Action Plan 2021-2024 under Regional industrial and innovation area.
In addition to being a regular guest faculty in universities in Albania and specialized conferences and forums, Madlina is lecture at the Marketing and Tourism Department of Tirana University, Albania and guest lecture to Uniadrion Summer School for Youth on Sustainable Tourism organised by University Politcnico delle Marche, Ancona, Italy.
Madlina is also a member of Global Sustainable Tourism Council invited as keynote speaker in the last Global Conference in Sustainable Tourism of 9 -11May, 2023 in Antalya, Turkey.
