A.R.S. PROGETTI’S PERCEPTION



In several areas of Africa, when entering the territory of another tribe, one is required to bear a special "passport mask". This has a profound meaning: to neutralise one's roots and individuality as a sign of respect to those whose territory is being entered. In this there is an ancient wisdom, the sublimation of humanity's neutral essence. Quoting Aeschylus Agamemnon "Provided they respect the temples and the Gods of the vanquished, then shall the victors be saved".

ARS Progetti is a consulting firm working all over the world providing services, such as surveys, studies, design and technical assistance, mainly to public committers and for public interests, in fields related with governance and human development, culture and cultural heritage, social and physical infrastructure. Its overall mission is of a professional nature and consists in finding out, proposing and helping to implement solutions "which work", with reference to complex problems affecting extended social groups, regions, countries, groups of countries. Working on this ARS Progetti pursues the interest of its direct and "indirect" clients and project beneficiaries.

POSITION:Works Supervisor – Resident Civil Engineer
COUNTRY / PAYS: UAE
Al Ain (World Heritage Site of the UNESCO), Abu Dhabi, UAE.
STARTING DATE / DATE DE DEMARRAGE: 14 April 2019
DURATION / DUREE: 12 months, with possible extension. 3 months trial period
GENERAL OBJECTIVE / OBJECTIVE GENERAL: In this position he/she will be the Resident Engineer and responsible for supervising construction works of visitors’ facilities for Mezyad Desert Park, an archaeological naturalistic area (approx. 4000 ha) part of the UNESCO Al Ain Serial Property.
PARTICULAR PURPOSE, APPLICATION SERVICES AND EXPECTED RESULTS / OBJECTIVES PARTICULIERS, SERVICES DEMANDES ET RÉSULTATS A ATTEINDRE:
The works include the construction of simple wooden structures/shelters and wooden decks scattered in different locations in the Park; landscaping works for the preparation of three camp sites, trails for hikers/bikers and horse/camel rides, improvement of the existing network of tracks, intervention for soil decompaction and fertilization, implementation of check dams along selected wadis, implementation of protection fences in two archaeological sites, implementation of interpretation signage and wayfinding.
He/she will liaise with clients and partners.
He/she will be hosted in ARS Progetti Guest house and have his/her room with private bathroom.
He/she will use the cars of ARS Progetti.

QUALIFICATION: Master degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture.
Senior Civil Engineer/Architect with minimum 10 years of work experience (35-45 years old), minimum 5 years of specific experience in works supervision for construction of wooden structures, site furnishings, light infrastructures, and environmental restoration. He/she must be experienced in supervision of works in historical/naturalistic areas.
Knowledge of FIDIC standard.
Excellent knowledge and use of computer and main software, such as Windows Office, Primavera, AUTOCAD, Acrobat, and Internet. ACONEX use is an asset.
Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory; Arabic is an asset.
Driving license and 4x4 driving is required.
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE / EXPÉRIENCE SPÉCIFIQUE: ESSENTIAL ATTITUDE: Independent, proactive and deeply passionate in heritage/environmental conservation. Self-motivated and hard worker. Excellent communication skills, leadership and team working capacity.
